18+ only, and the floor is often higher than you think
Duel is an adults-only product, and this page exists for parents and first-time visitors rather than for the casino. The number 18 is the bare minimum. It is not the number everywhere, and it is not the number that gets checked when money moves.
Where the floor sits
Duel sets 18 as its own minimum. Your local law can raise that:
| Place | Age that applies | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Duel's own terms | 18 | Below 18, no account at all |
| Most of Canada | 19 | Provinces set their own figures |
| Parts of the United States | 21 | Moot: the United States is closed at Duel entirely |
The United States is not a grey area here. The terms name US players as banned, and registration from the US is not possible. Roughly 30 countries are excluded in total, including the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Australia. Our restricted countries page lists them.
When the age question is actually asked
- Not at sign-up. Duel does not run an identity check when you open the account.
- It is triggered at €5,000 of lifetime deposits, or on your first withdrawal — whichever comes first.
- Provide the document at that point. Pass, and the account continues. Fail, or be found to be under age, and the account is closed with any balance at risk of being withheld under the terms.
Why crypto does not make anyone anonymous
The chain is not where you get caught; the on-ramp is. A card purchase through the Swapped Visa, Mastercard or Apple Pay route puts a named card on the record. A bank transfer to an exchange puts a named bank on the record. Both sit behind the same €5,000 or first-withdrawal trigger, and both attach an adult's identity to the account. Playing with crypto only delays the paperwork; it does not remove it. This is also why accounts registered from closed jurisdictions tend to fail at cash-out rather than at sign-up.
Practical steps for a parent
- Set the device's own age controls first — screen time, app store age rating, and the browser's safe-search setting.
- Add a content filter that blocks gambling domains. GamBlock and Net Nanny style tools do exactly this and work even when the site is new.
- Remove stored payment cards and exchange apps from shared devices. Without an on-ramp there is no way to fund an account.
- Talk about the money, not just the site. Duel's smallest bet is $0.01, so losses start quietly and scale.
